Jean Baptiste Rabalais HI, first son and second child of Joseph Rabalais and Anne Barbe Boftz, was born at Pointe Coupee on January 15, 1759. Joseph Berza died, and Adele married Louis Scallan on June 5, 1832. 2. Victoire Berza, born cl805, married on April 24, 1821, Leandre Lacour, son of Cyprien Lacour and Genevieve Joffrion. 3. Manette (also called Nanette) Berza, born cl805, married on December 9, 1823, Augustin Mayeux, born September 19, 1800, son of Pierre Mayeux and Marie Anne Bordelon.

4. Marie Anne Berza, baptized September 3, 1806, age two months, no further information. 5. Celestine (Celeste) Berza, married on April 20, 1820, Colin Lacour, son of Cyprien Lacour and Genevieve Joffrion. 6.

Gabriel Berza II, born March 4, 1810, no further information. Next Week -We will continue with the children of Jean Baptiste Rabalais III and Marie Louise Bouchard. I Bouchard, born at Pointe Coupee on September 22, 1759, daughter of Louis Bouchard called Lavalle, a native of Montreal, and his wife, Marie Louise Lemoine, daughter of Guillaume Le-moine and Marie Sanmerine. All of the Rabalais of Avoyelles are descended from this family of Jean Baptiste Rabalais III and Marie Louise Bouchard and their twelve children. Celeste Rabalais was the first child of Jean Baptiste Rabalais III and Marie Louise Bouchard.

Celeste was born cl778, at Pointe Coupee Post, and married on December 6, 1792, Francois Bordelon, born February 26, 1771, at Pointe Coupee, died May 19, 1832, at' Avoyelles. Francois was the son of Antoine Bordelon and Marie Decuir. Their children were: 1. Celine (or Celeste) Bordelon, married Marcellin Decuir, native of Pointe Coupee, on October 2, 1810. 2.

Francois Bordelon II, born 1805, married on November 19, 1822, Clar-isse Voorhies, native of Opelousas and daughter of Cornelius Voorhies and Aimee Gradenigo. We know of one child of this marriage, Celestine Bordelon, born September 7, 1823. Celestine married at Lafayette, Louisiana, on April 23, 1840, Don Louis Mouton. After the death of Mouton, Celestine Bordelon married on March 1, 1853, Dr. Jules C.

Desfosse, native of France and son of Jean Clovis Desfosse and Marie Magdeleine Coursin. Dr. Desfosse died at Mansura on August 5, 1880. 3. Marianne Bordelon, born April, 1808, no further information.

4. Paulin Bordelon, born October, 1810, died before December, 1867, married on September 9, 1828, Heloise Rabalais, born 1814, daughter of Martin Rabalais and Heloise Lemoine. 5. Marcelin Bordelon, born September 28, 1814, no further information. Susanna Rabalais, the second child of Jean Baptiste Rabalais III, was baptized on December 11, 1781, age 6 months.

She married, in 1796, at Avoyelles, Gabriel (also called Gilbert) Berza, born cl770 at Pointe Coupee, son of Joseph Berza and Antoinette Lemoine. We have not found the record of this marriage. However, a dispensation for the marriage was granted on February 4, 1796. We can assume that the couple married shortly thereafter. We know of six children of this union: 1.

Joseph Berza, born January 16, 1802, died before June 8, 1832, married in a Catholic ceremony dated January 26, 1826, Adele Gremillion, daughter of Francois Gremillion II and Emelie Lejeune. 3rd row: Ealine Gremillion, Ruth Broussard, Essel Gauthier, Rose Mary Bordelon, Hardy Lacour, Ray Saucier, Garvy Rabalais. 4th row: Lula MaeGuillot, Ella Mae Soldani, Sydna Ardion, Grace Lemione, Allen Soldani, Audrey Lee Bordelon, Clyde Mayeux, Marion Dupont. T.J. Bordelon and Russel Rabalais are not in this picture. They were drafted and so there were two vacant seats on graduation night.
