10. 1998, for Mrs. Roland Matte, the former Jennie Lee Sonnier, 66, of Church Point, who died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8.

1998, in Doctors Hospital in Opelousas following a lengthy illness. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Matte was a retired nurse's aide at Rayne Guest Home. Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Nelson St. Amant Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 12. 1998, at 1 p.m. in St Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Gene Tremle officiating, for Mr.

Nelson St. Am.ant, 56, of Rayne, who died Monday, Aug. 10, at his Rayne home. He is survived by two son. Burton St.

Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of arrangements. Ml It). PICKUP TRUCK FLIPS: A Lake Charles driver and his unidentified male passenger suffered moderate injuries about 5 p.m.

Tuesdays when the pickup truck flipped twice and came to rest in the ditch on the westbound lane of Interstate 1 0. The driver, Mario Garner, 1 8, according to the trooper, apparently fell asleep at the wheel, allowing the truck to drift into the left lane. When the driver overcorrected, the truck went into the ditch and flipped twice before landing upright. Both Garner and his passenger were transported by ambulance to American Legion Hospital in Crowley. Garner was charged with careless operation.

Rita Fontenot CHURCH POINT Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 9, 1998, at 3 p.m. in Our Lady of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, with Father Fred Swenson officiating, for Rita Fontenot, 82, of Church Point, who died on Friday, Aug. 7. 1998, at 8:30 a.m.

Burial was In Our Lady of Sacred Heart Cemetery in Church Point She is survived by two sisters, Theresa Arceneaux, Church Point, and Mrs. Ferdie (Ella Fontenot) Arceneaux, Lawtell; and five brothers, Vincent Fontenot, Ville Platte, Nolton Fontenot and Ferdie Fontenot, both of Opelousas, Francis Fontenot, Lawtell, and Daniel Fontenot, Baton Rouge. She was preceded in death by two brothers.
