Descant EVERGREEN-Services for Elise M. Descant were at 11 a.m.. Thurs. March 16, 2000 in the Church of the Little Flower with Fr. Scott Chemino officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetary under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home. Ms. Descant. 84, of Evergreen died on March 14, 2000 in Bunkie General Hospital. She was a member of the Church of Little Flower Altar Society.

Survivors include a daughter Martha Kojis of Bunkie; a sister Cecelia Rachal of Bunkie; a brother Descant of Kenner; two grandchildren. and tWO great -grandchildren. Pallbearers were Drian Daigre, Todd Kojis, Charles Brady Kojis; Glenn Ortego. W.J. Dugas, David Geal, Tommy Thayer, and Dale Descant.

Crossbearer was Stephen Todd Kojis, Jr. Andrew Laborde, Sr. HESSMER-Andrew Laborde, 90. died March 1, 2000 at 12:15 p.m. He was born July 22.

1909, a native of Mansura. His body was donated to science. He is survived by his wife, Francis S. Laborde of John Pickett, Sr. -Services for John Edward Pickett, Sr.

was March 14, 2000 in the Big Cane Baptist Church with Dr. Jimmy Brossette officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home. Mr. Pickett, 80, of Morrow died March 12, 2000 in Opelousas General Hospital.

He was a retired school bus driver with the St. Landry Parish School system. Swain were at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 27, 2000 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Funeral Home in Marksville with Rev. David Wilson officiating. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery. Ruby. Military graveside services were conducted by the Cenla Honor Guard.

Mr. Swain, 68, died at 9:15 a.m., Friday, March 24, 2000 in Big Bend. He was born April 27, 1931, a native of Ruby. He was a retired air traffic controller for Delta and TWA airlines. former Navy veteran and a former merchant seaman.

Survivors include two sons. Jeffrey Lynn Swain of Avalon, TX and Bobby Joe Swain of Pineville; one daughter of I Diana Swain Shell of Orange, TX; two brothers, John "Bill" Swain of Marksville and Jackson Swain of Centerpoint; three. sisters, Mildred J. Becker of Shreveport, June Persefield of Hemphill, TX and Gloria Ida Clark of Effie; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers were Randy Shoemaker, John Clark, Roger Dunlap, Zeb Oswalt, Nathan Swain and Kevin Swain.

Myrtle Baker ALEXANDRIA-Services for Myrtle Mary Baker were at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 30, 2000 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Tioga, with Father Gerald Foley officiating. Entombment was in Forest Lawn Mausoleum, Pineville, under direction of Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Pineville. Mrs. Baker, 76, of Alexandria, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, in Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria.

Lester Bordelon, Sr. MANSURA-Services for Lester Bordelon, Sr. were at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 21, 2000 in St. Paul Catholic church with Rev. Russell Lemoine, Father George Krosfield and Jose Robles Sanchez.

Entombment was in the church mausoleum under direction of Funeral Home, Mansura. Mr. Bordelon, 85, of Mansura. died at 12:51 p.m., March 19, 2000 at Avoyelles Hospital. He was born march 2, 1915, a native of Marksville, son of Hernandez and Isabelle Bordelon.

He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and retired salesman with Insurance. He was a farmer and a member to the Louisiana Cattlemen's Association. Survivors include his wife, Annette Bordelon of Mansura; one son, L. P.

Bordelon, Jr. of Bordelonville; one daughter, Jeanette Brouillette of Baton Rouge: two brothers. Elmore Bordelon of Metairie and Lonis Bordelon of Alexandria; seven grandchildren; and 15 greatgrandchildren. He was 86. Mr. Desselle was born in Marksville. the son of Albert Desselle, Sr. and Rosie Boyer Desselle and was a lifelong resident of Garyville.

He was the third of his late siblings. Jules. Alfred, Clara and Lillie Desselle. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, reading and spending time with his grandchildren. Once retired from Godchaux Sugar Refinery, with 30 years of service as a sugar baler, Albert was a groundsman for Leon Godchaux, Jr.

High School. Survivors include his wife, Marie Desselle; two sons, Albert Desselle of Reserve and Percy Desselle of Garyville; seven grandchildren; 13 greatgrandchildren: and a great-greatgrandchild. Mae Ducote DENHAM SPRINGS-Services for Mae Bernadette Ducote were at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, March 26, 2000 in St. Paul Catholic Church with Rev. James Roy officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Funeral Home, Mansura. Mrs. Ducote, 81, of Denham Springs, died at 4:10 a.m., March 25, 2000 at The Care Center in Baton Rouge. She was born Feb. 14.

1919, a native of Mansura, daughter of Ferrier Roy and Stella Bonnette. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs and also a former member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Mansura. Survivors include two sons, Donald Ducote of Baton Rouge and Kenneth Ducote of Denham Springs; one daughter, Carmen Adams of Walker; one brother, Alden Roy of Mansura; one sister, Doris Lacombe of Simmesport; nine grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren. Pallbearers were Eric Adams, Brian, Jeff, Kendall.

Mark, Matthew and Vernon Ducote. John Jeansonne COTTONPORT-Services for John Anthony Jeansonne were at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 27. 2000 in St. Marys Assumption Catholic Church with Revs. Rusty Rabalais and Matt Woollett officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Funeral Home. Mr. Jeansonne, 67, of Cottonport. died at 11:00 a.m., March 25, 2000 at Rapides Regional Medical Center. He was born Nov.

11, 1932, a native of Cottonport, son of Elge and Victoria Jeansonne. He was retired as a manager of Cassidy Oil and Gas Distribution of Cottonport, was a Marine veteran of the Korean War and member of St. Marys Assumption Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Cassidy Jeansonne of Cottonport; six sons. David Jeansonne of Lafayette, Kenneth Jeansonne of Myrtle Beach, Kevin Jeansonne of Alexandria, Marty Jeansonne and Randy Jeansonne both of Houston, TX and Terry Jeansonne of Hessmer; one daughter, Suzanne Jeansonne of Cottonport; two brothers, Barton Jeansonne and Murray Jeansonne both of Cottonport; one sister, Quinten Jeansonne of Cottonport; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tim Ducote, Dick Juneau, Myron Moreau, Buddy Normand, Clyde Rosa and 2000 in St. Mary Assumption Myron Tassin. Marie Ducote BROUSSARD-Service for Marie Gremillion Ducote were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2000 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Broussard. Monsignor Michael Herpin officiated. Entombment was in the church mausoleum under direction of David Funeral Home of Broussard.

A native of Bunkie and a resident of Broussard, Mrs. Ducote, died at 4:44 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2000 at Cornerstone Village South in Lafayette. She was a retired school teacher and worked for St. Anthony Parochial School in Bunkie for 20 years.

She also taught adults to through the VITA program. Mrs. Ducote was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bunkie for 63 years and a member of Sacred Heart Church in Broussard since 1979. She was also a lector and a RCIA instructor at Sacred Heart Church.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for 48 years, the Ladies Altar Society and the Come Lord Jesus Prayer Group Broussard. Survivors include four daughters, Diane Dubroc and Peggy Ducote, both of Lafayette, June Cashio of Youngsville and Nancy Rachal of Livingston, Texas; three sons, Russell Ducote and Daniel "Dan" E. Ducote, both of Lafayette, and Bert Ducote of New Iberia; two sisters, Vivian Escude and Bessie Riche, both of Bunkie; two brothers, Charles Gremillion and Louis Gremillion, both of Bunkie; 17 grandchildren; and 18 greatgrandchildren, She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert H. Ducote; her father, Cletus J. Gremillion; her mother, Elena St.

Martin Gremillion; one brother, Larry Gremillion; and one sister, Jessie Reed. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Sam Cashio, Mark Dubroc, Eric Ducote, Vincent Ducote. Jake Rachal and Josh Rachal. Honorary pallbearer was Ross Rachal. Edorlia Gauthier COTTONPORT-Services for Edorlia Galland Gauthier were at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, March 19, Catholic Church with Father Matt Woollett officiating.

Survivors include four sisters, Avia Dubroc, Lillian Firmin and Odelia Lacombe all of Cottonport and Ordean Saucier of Plaucheville; four grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.
